Cottage Living
Project type
Small Space Living
Location
Connecticut
This cozy little cottage living room and sunroom is proof that small spaces can still bring big charm—especially when there’s a lake just outside the windows. This cottage was fully renovated and stripped of elements that didn't work with the lakeside vibe, but I kept the original charm of the wood paneled walls and original wood bedroom doors and added other rustic touches like gorgeous ceiling beams. Larger windows were added to open up to the lake views.
Soft, comfy seating invites you to settle in and stay awhile, while swivel chairs make it easy to turn toward the view, the conversation, or the TV. Thoughtful lighting adds a soft glow for evenings in, and the rustic elements keep everything grounded and cozy.
Rummy and Setback card games are played regularly on the table in the sunroom. A sofa bed is great for sleepovers. Shutters close off the living and kitchen area from the sunroom so guests can have some privacy. These spaces were made for slow mornings, friendly competition, and unplugged nights by the water. Casual, comfortable, and full of charm—just the way lake life should be.
